■ ID CARD
Your ID card allows you to enter the library and check out books.

■ LOAN POLICY
Check-out = Kashidashi (貸出)
Present your ID card at the circulation counter. You can check out books or materials as follows,
- Books in the LIBRARY
- Books --- Full-time Faculty member -- up to 30 books, 180 days
- Books --- Part-time Faculty member -- up to 20 books, 60 days
- Reserved Books ------- 7 days (Some materials are restricted)
- Reference Books, Periodicals, etc. ------- Library use only
Present your ID card at the check-out desk of AV Library. You can check out books or materials as follows,
- Audio materials (books, CDs, cassettes etc.) in the AV LIBRARY
- Magazines, audio materials for certificate exams --- up to 6 articles, 7 days
- Other audio materials for language study --- up to 6 articles, 14 days
- Music CDs and cassettes ------- up to 3 articles, AV Library use or class use only (You can't take it home)
- Visual materials (DVD, videotapes etc.) in the AV LIBRARY
- Movie --- up to 3 articles, AV Library use or class use only (You can't take it home)
- Other visual materials --- 1 article, 7 days
Returning Books = Henkyaku (返却)
Please return books at the circulation counter. Please return books by the due date.
- If the library is closed, please drop your book(s) in the BOOK RETURN BOX located outside the library entrance. (You are not allowed to drop AV materials in the BOOK RETURN BOX)
- Please return AV materials at the check-out desk of AV Library (2F).
Renewal = Koshin (更新)
You may renew the loan period only once by bringing your ID card together with the books to the circulation counter. Exceptions are overdue books and / or reserved books.
Request to reserve a book = Yoyaku (予約)
If a book has been checked out, you can request that it can be reserved for you upon its return. Please ask at the circulation counter.
■ PROCEDURE TO CHECK OUT BOOKS AVAILABLE AT THE HOTANI LIBRARY
You can also apply for books available at the Hotani Library by filling out the request form at the Main Library desk.
Pick up the books you have requested at the circulation counter at Nakamiya the following day after 2:00 p.m. (Orders placed on Saturdays will arrive on Mondays.)
■ REFERENCE SERVICE
When you need assistance in locating or using reference materials, consult at the reference counter (1F).
■ INTERLIBRARY LOAN SERVICE
The faculty, staff, and students of the university may request interlibrary loans for materials not available in the Library. Requests should be made at the reference counter. An article in a journal or a book may be provided by photocopy; an entire book may be borrowed from other libraries. In case of interlibrary loan, you will be charged for postage and cost for copying.

- Digital video camera/Portable tape recorder --- Use is limited to on campus, and only for one day.
- (2) Editing room/Recording room [not available for students]
- Convert/Edit/Voice recourding <example> making materials for the class or tests
- (3) AV Library [also available for students]
- ・Audio booth (5)
・8 times speed cassette duplicator (7 copies at once) [not available for students]
<example> Prosessors make duplicate tapes for students' study by themselves.
※ Please note us in advance when you give students the instruction to use materials or the equipment of AV Library. This will help us to avoid potential conflicts with other prior reservations. Basically, we have 1 material to 1 title, so please talk with us if many students use it.
■ OPAC
OPAC is our online catalogue of books, periodicals and AV materials. We have some English-guide terminals, but some messages are in Japanese. the books are arranged by NDC (Nippon Decimal Classification). the following codes are used to indicate location of materials.
